you got scammed by a scammer. Just becareful next time. Customized weapon is almost useless. There are no way to 'uncustomized' the weapon. I think they warned you on after you click accept about the customized item when trading, because it is a common scam.

Unfortunate indeed. Expert salvage it if you can, failing that the merchant's your only choice. If it's amazing you could save it in the hope that ANet introduces a de-customiser... 15 years minimum.

Don't sell it on to another player, if it has good mods, but you'd rather pass the salvage rick on to someone else, make TOTALLY SURE they understand that they will never be able to use it.

Hi MrTickle,

I can relate to your situation as you may wish to read this post: http://www.guildwarsguru.com/forum/s...ht=victors+axe

Was the item sold to you in game or through Auction?

note

the person losing the item/gold will never get it back but with screenshots of the transaction the scammer may get a slap on the wrist.

enough slaps on record can lose them their account.

be sure to screenshot any big/important transaction

Didn't they change it so that there was a warning if a modified item was being traded?

I'm pretty sure I got a message when I moved an item to a mule about the item being modified.

I really doubt Anet will do anything; MrTickle lost 3k. Now maybe if he lost 30k or 300k, but not 3k. You can get 3k from 2 Vermin runs and that's excluding the vermin hides.

"Didn't they change it so that there was a warning if a modified item was being traded" I only see a message when they have modified what they originally put in the trade window!

If it has mods then like what others has said, salvage it to try for the mod.

Scams like this are getting more popular! I had one guy trying to tell me that dye remover was used to "uncustomise" the armor they were selling! I congratulated them as I had not laughed so much in ages! You have now learnt something about trading! Do not trust the seller or buyer! Check and double check and screen grab big transactions.

Unfortunately we all have to learn about scams the hard way, dye's were the biggest ones in prophecies, people buying black from people fresh over from pre searing for 50g etc...
